Trinidad....like Sleeping Beauty!

I thought I came to Trinidad to die.  I heard someone say they thought some force in Trinidad tried to kill off people that didn’t comply.  This sparked the warrior in me.  Still, my legs were giving out.  My breathing became a struggle.  How then should I comply?

I began to walk and my breathing relaxed.  Yes, I drink plenty of water.  I try to keep moving in the Garden and yard.  Sometimes it’s a fight, but I press on.  In spite of the challenge, I recognize the gift that has been given to me.  It sparks new life.  To begin again at my late age is pretty wonderful.

My Maritime husband came from the desert and moved to the sea.  After graduating from the California Maritime Academy, he worked Marine Salvage, sailed to many ports as Captain, and became a Panama Canal Ship Pilot.   Now, after years of sailing the deep blue, he is content again to be home in the desert west.  In October, we will be married 59 years.  Some say that length of relationship is unheard of today.  Some call it a miracle.  I say, “With God’s Grace and a lot of super glue we made it.”

All of those fifty-nine years have been lived in the tropics and sub-tropical climate.  I grew to love the moisture in the air.  It kept my skin soft and without deep wrinkles.  I loved the lushness of the Tropics.  Not too much loving the bugs.

Coming to Colorado has been a drastic change for me.  The Rockies are awesome.   Growing roses in the high desert plains is a lot easier.  They thrive in the dryness.  As long as you give them a drink of water now and then.

There is great majesty in Colorado.  And Trinidad is like Sleeping Beauty waiting for her Prince.
