PEARL

Mixed Media on Watercolor Paper - 7"

"Pearl"

The forging of my soul
Fire and kiln
The ember still....
Wanting more than I am.
So much more than I can.
God in me, have your way.
Mold me, hold me,
I am more than clay,
But dust in the King's Reign.

Pearl!  He whispered pearl.
Paradise found!

CHRYSALIS

 "Chrysalis"

30" x 40" Oil and Mixed Media

In her book, "The ARTIST'S JOURNEY' Nancy Hillis, M.D. writes:

"...our rejected paintings activate the not me self.

They're unfamiliar, they appear as "other" and thus we reject them.

...By giving yourself permission to make "ugly" paintings,

you're acknowledging how vital these exploratory works are to your development as an artist.

"Ugly" paintings are often the nascent forms of something new emerging in your work,

and sometimes they are the thing itself,

 a fully developed living expression....

What we're talking about is the radical creativity that's the birthplace of art that surprises us.

....Let your new works live and breathe...."

“The Piper Played"

The Scripture is in Matthew!

“We played the flute for you,
and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge,
and you did not mourn.”
Matthew 11:17

NIV Version:

“‘We played the pipe for you,
and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge,
and you did not mourn.’

18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ 19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is proved right by her deeds.”

SOME STRANGE THING

 "Some Strange Thing"

Sometimes our life takes a turn and we find ourselves

in a unique valley of decision.

We might move to a place that is

beyond our expectations.....

good and not so good.

We might think we made a grave mistake in

moving away from intimate friends

and God's vivid purpose in a location.

We might feel somewhat like Joseph,

as he found himself in a dungeon.

A prisoner of Pharoah,

misunderstood, judged

 and pulled in many directions.

None seemed to lead to freedom.

Until one day, we might realize,

it was always God.

Isolation can be a place where one grows into maturity

or one

shrivels up and withers away.

We choose!

Life or Death.

Even so, we might think our life has become

"Some Strange Thing."

"Beloved, think it not strange

concerning the fiery trial which is to try you,

as though

some strange thing happened unto you."

1 Peter 4: 12

PASTURE

 "PASTURE"

"I Am the door.

  If anyone enters by me,

 he will be saved

 and

he will go in and out

and

 find pasture."

 John 10: 9
